Laboratory Manager (Research Associate I)

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is hiring a Research Associate position with the role of managing and supporting a new laboratory focused on performing high precision triple oxygen isotope measurements. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties with minimal oversight: 1) perform maintenance, minor repair, and operation of IRMS instrumentation, 2) perform sample preparation, analysis, and data processing, 3) assist in the development of new methods and applications, 4) perform initial user laboratory training and 4) schedule and collaborate with internal and external contacts on research projects. Excellent candidates will be collaborative, flexible, detail oriented, and excited about fundamental research and lab operations. Candidates should be able to deliver on fixed deadlines, prioritize workloads, have a solid understanding of office and scientific software (prior programming experience is a plus), and be able to make independent decisions/recommendations. On the job training is expected, however candidates should have a strong background in earth science, chemistry, or engineering with preference to candidates with prior technical IRMS laboratory experience.
